Editorial policy

Coastal Civic Journal aims for writing that is clear, fair and careful about what it can establish. We distinguish explanation from opinion, state uncertainty where it matters and review reader concerns seriously.

Accuracy and context

We check factual statements against suitable material before publication and take care not to present an example as a rule for every coast. Articles should explain relevant terms and context, avoid overstating certainty and make clear when a subject depends on a particular place or circumstance.

Independence and labels

Editorial decisions are made for the reader's understanding. Paid, sponsored or partner material is identified clearly as such and kept distinct from independent editorial coverage. A commercial relationship does not guarantee favourable editorial treatment.

Corrections

If you believe an article contains an error, contact us with its title, the passage in question and any supporting context. We review correction requests and, when a change is warranted, amend the article in a way that clarifies the record.

Illustrations

Some illustrations may be generated with artificial intelligence. Such images are illustrative rather than documentary evidence, and we take care not to use them in a way that misrepresents a real place or event.
