Coastal Civic Journal

Write for us

Coastal Civic Journal welcomes thoughtful proposals that help general readers understand coastal places and public life. We are interested in clear, original work with a specific question at its centre.

Ideas that fit

Pitch explainers, comparisons, histories and carefully framed guides about shorelines, public access, local decisions, community life or coastal heritage. Strong ideas show why a subject matters to readers and what they will understand after reading.

Make the pitch specific

Include a working title, the central question, the proposed angle and a short outline of the main points. Tell us what material or knowledge the piece would draw on, flag any uncertainty or place-specific limits, and mention relevant conflicts of interest. Do not send a finished article unless requested.

Sending a proposal

Send proposals through the Contact page and choose the editorial question option. We cannot promise a response time or publication, and a proposal should not assume that Coastal Civic Journal has agreed to commission or publish it.
